4- (optional) shield bottle from authorities

Wine snobbishness is a relatively new phenomena (did I spell that correct? Not English mother tongue..)

Wine has through all centuries been drunken in whatever has been available, and still is. Take a trip around the farmland in Europe or South America and check how many that bring out their crystal glasses to drink their table wine for lunch at home.

I think the idea is not bad at all. But as was mentioned above, you need a different cork, and you need to be sure the paper in the cork will not give off any taste to the wine.

I am sure it will be popular among younger people that want to bring along a bottle that is easy to share, for a picknick. Or travellers that want to pack something good to drink, but are afraid of breaking glasses.

Uh.. mentioning that.. I am sure that we will find this bottle as plastic, not glass. Weight is also a major factor. You can buy wine in plastic bags (inside cartons) these days, so why not plastic bottles?

Obviously, this is not for long time storage of vintage wine. And of course I agree that bringing out your crystal glasses is nice. But let us not be snobbish. Wine is still being enjoyed in plain, "milk style" glasses around the world.

Is it a screw top too? Otherwise you still have to always have a corkscrew on hand.
