When great architects have just a small piece of land to build, then really interesting designs are build. I recently posted a 1 m wide house design from Brazil which was quite amazing.

Now you can see a Tokyo residence by architect Yasuhiro Yamashita which was also built on a small space.

You can check more interesting architecture designs like this here.

That is a very compact and efficient size place. It’s actually quite large compared to some of the flats in Tokyo.

This looks really cool. Wish we could see inside.
Why do people use the word ‘weird’ when describing something like this? It seems to have a negative connotation. Why not ‘Innovative small house’ or ‘Amazing small house’? ‘Weird small house’ sounds like ‘can you believe someone would actually live in a f*cked-up place like this???’ I prefer to give kudos to creativity.

Then again, maybe I’m reading more into ‘weird’ than was intended.

Innovative is lifting the house up to accomodate the car. Weird is doing it with triangulated concrete form.

Why is triangulated concrete ‘weird’?

Seems much more appealing than some lame-looking square box…

Weird is seeing this as anything but innovative.

I like the design (outside could be more aesthetic perhaps but still), but I REALLY want to see the inside!

By lopping off odd angles it seems like this would waste more space than a lame-looking square box

What a clever use of space, and a really cool design to boot. I like it. I’d love to have a place like that.
