This concept houses are intended to be used as temporary shelters after an earthquake or big fire. They have an interesting geometric shape and are constructed from renewable materials and can be folded into a lot of shapes.
Ming Tang came up with this concept after a magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck central China killing 69,000 people. He decided to design a shelter that was easily produced, cheap and environmentally friendly.
The houses are made from a system of bamboo poles that are pre-assembled into rigid geometric shapes. Once constructed, the shelters are then covered by using post and pre-consumer recycled paper. They look interesting like giant spiders but I wonder how will this systems be used in winter or on a big wind…
Nevertheless the idea is good and the head of states should consider it in case of disaster.
