Power saving street lights in Japan

Published in Lighting, eco Tags: japan, solar energy, wind energy

Recently I found on Metacafe, a video about one of the coolest street lights I have ever seen. It is said to be in Japan and it uses wind speed as well as solar power to charge itself and reduce the energy consumption. Probably it has some internal batteries that accumulate energy during the day, when is sunny outside or when is windy.

For sure this kind of street lights should be in every city. Imagine how much energy will be saved!

PS: But it seems that it doesn’t produce enough light to light the surroundings…
