A bench made from nails…

If someone tells you about a bench or bed made from nails you of course think about torture…but the designer of the bench we are presenting now inverts that association with a smooth, curved and rippled surface for comfortable seating.

It was intended as works of art but it can be used as functional furniture too. If the nails are spaced closely enough and sufficiently smoothed there we could think of everyday furniture made like this. It will look kind of cool.

Those are not screws, Standard Nails have ridging on the point so they grip the surface they are nailed into. otherwise they would slide right out after minor stress or weathering.

that is absolutely beautiful, what a great idea. plus they wouldn’t be screws with hex heads, they would bolts, or lag bolts to be exact. it is a fastener bench.

Nice pieces, they look to be covered with a blanket of some kind, like ErikS said, from a distance.

Those aren’t ring shank nails, they are hex-head bolts that have been bent and twisted into shape, then the artist ran some kind of grinder/sander on them to get the flat surfaces we see. You can clearly see the hex-heads on some of the bolts that were not bent, in the close-up.

Not that it matters, but when some idiot pops up blowing smoke up the collective arse of the Interwebz, they should get called on it.

socket head cap screw is how I would order form the supply house. They might be lag bolts but they could be considered screws or bolts depending on who you talk to. NOT NAILS but who cares arguing on the internet is like the special Olympics, even if you win you are still retarded
